SPREAD HAPPINESS

Happiness : Do you know what is the most important thing for a child of 6 years and above. Guess the answers : Parents ? No Grand Parents ? No Care taker ? No Friends ? No Teacher ? Yes They are the people outside home where they spend maximum time and deal with the outside world. A small word of encouragement from teacher puts a smile on the child. And the opposite is true too. Scolding or neglect by a teacher makes the child so sad. I am now studying psychology. I am the only in my family pursuing it. When my mother heard the concepts while I study them aloud, she said, these should be taught to every student just like maths, science or social studies and languages. These really make you understand what each person is going through and is so practical. She was right. That made me wonder, if psychology is atleast the main subject of every teacher, there will be no student left sad or neglected. I know my neighbour who is just 4 yr old but gushes with pride ...

Short Story : OLD AGE HOME

Moral Story :  Sita Devi was 85 years old. She had six children. Sitting on a bench under the shady tree, she was seeing other women walk around. Just then she heard someone say please come inside and have your snacks. She took her walking stick. Went and had soup and some boiled veggies. She sat in her room and rested. The room was neat with beautiful bed sheet on her bed. A flower vase near the table. There was so much peace and silence. Everything looked so perfect. The laughter of children played loud. She was cooking meals for so many family members. Serving hot chapattis and making laddoos and namkeens and keeping them filled in jars. Sending sweets dabbas to her daughter’s home. There used to be guests visiting. Festivals, religious gathering and life was good. All this flashed in front of her. Her daughter came to visit her just then knocking the door and enquired if she was fine. Sita Devi smiled and said yes I am very happy. Its so peaceful here. There is no ...

SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Skill development We all have heard about this term. Our parents and ancestors were actually doing this. So for those who do not know what it is , let me explain you in simple terms. Skill means some talent that you possess and that development is skill development. What is the need ? Our population is rising but the employment is not rising at same level and speed. Hence, to bridge the gap and provide employment to not so educated youth, skill development is needed. How to go about ? Every individual is blessed with some talent and that talent can be harnessed by proper training. For eg we see a carpenter. If he goes and applies in some company for a job, he might not find a job suitable for him. But he knows his skill well and can earn by doing carpentry job. This will solve the problem of unemployment and make people self- reliant Today we have so many NGOs doing skill development in rural and urban areas which is commendable. Important: Do not read this blog...

AIDS AND HIV - KNOW ALL

AIDS and HIV I want to educate you in simple words about this dangerous disease. When we are aware about it we can avoid contracting it at the same time we can also be empathetic towards these patients. In the year 1981, a unique and newly recognized syndrome known as acquired immune deficiency syndrome [AIDS] broke out in America. HIV which stands for human immune deficiency virus causes AIDS. HIV infects human cells and uses the energy and nutrients provided by the cells to grow and reproduce. The body immune system breaks down in this disease. The body is unable to fight against infections and other sicknesses due to damaged immune system. When a person is infected with HIV, the virus enters the body and multiplies largely in the white blood cells. These cells normally protect and help us in resisting various diseases. As the virus grows, it damages or kills these cells. This weakens the immune system and leaves the individual defenceless against various infections and...

Short story – Water in Eyes!!! There was a girl named Gauri. She was a very bright student. One day when she had gone to school, to her surprise, she could see no one in school. She started searching here and there for her friends, teachers, peons, but all in vain. She couldn’t find anyone. After searching for so long, she felt thirsty and went to her school water purifier to drink water but there was no water there. She tried calling for help from the phone in school but no one answered the call. Gauri got exhausted and left the school. On her way back home she found so many people fainted and unconscious on the road and wondered the reason behind everyone lying unconscious. When she reached home, to her surprise she saw her neighbours and even her family except her dad lying unconscious on the floor. Gauri and her dad had tears in their eyes after seeing each other. URBANISATION

Urbanization When you think of Urbanisation, you visualise cities and towns which are developed. Now the question is how are they developed. This is because of growth in terms of transport., communication and other infrastructure such as buildings, highways, roads and expressways. Today the Urban cities have not only grown in terms of infrastructure but it has also grown in terms of software machines. The increasing use of internet has made our lives easy. It is able to provide us knowledge about so many things like invention of any new machinery, how to use them, updates on any new product launched in the market, etc. There is also so much exposure to social media, we are able to know what are people doing, where had they gone or going etc   even by sitting in our homes and it is also used for entertainment. You are also able to connect your phone to the LED lights and change those lights by just clicking a button on your phone, you can even connect your phone to AC, so y...

Waste Management and Disposal

Waste Management and Disposal Today we see that there is garbage accumulated   everywhere. We see that there are dustbins everywhere, but despite that we don’t use them and litter everywhere. In fact I also see that the garbage are not thrown in the dustbin, but thrown around it. On the beaches also people just eat, drink and throw those bottles on the beach. The waves of the sea come and take that garbage with it, and that’s how the sea also gets polluted and dirty. People might actually think that nothing would happen if they just throw a wrapper of chocolate on the street, but if everyone starts thinking the same, then that day is not too far when the road will be full of plastic. So to avoid such circumstances we can start following small steps like Ø Throwing the garbage in the dustbin and not elsewhere Ø While travelling when you are eating something and finish it, put the wrapper   or tetra pack in your bag and then when you find a dustbin, throw it in th...

DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Disaster Management Today’s world is very unpredictable; anything can happen at any time, there can be any disaster occurring at any time. Disasters are of 2 types, manmade and natural disaster. Manmade disasters are those disasters that are caused by humans for eg setting a nuclear bomb. Natural disasters are those disasters which occur naturally like earthquakes, floods, tsunami etc. There is a city institute of disaster management [CIDM] established in Parel, Mumbai where everything related to disaster management is shown and controlled. They have 4 floors wherein on the 1 st floor they have the art gallery wherein manmade and natural disasters, how cyclones, volcanos and earthquakes occur are shown with the help of models and learning with models are quite fun as it is actually shown in front of your eyes and it’s not theoretical. Next on the 3 rd floor they have a control room wherein we were shown how they operate. So it would be interesting for you to know that there...
