AIDS AND HIV - KNOW ALL

AIDS and HIV

I want to educate you in simple words about this dangerous disease. When we are aware about it we can avoid contracting it at the same time we can also be empathetic towards these patients.

In the year 1981, a unique and newly recognized syndrome known as acquired immune deficiency syndrome [AIDS] broke out in America. HIV which stands for human immune deficiency virus causes AIDS. HIV infects human cells and uses the energy and nutrients provided by the cells to grow and reproduce.

The body immune system breaks down in this disease. The body is unable to fight against infections and other sicknesses due to damaged immune system.

When a person is infected with HIV, the virus enters the body and multiplies largely in the white blood cells. These cells normally protect and help us in resisting various diseases. As the virus grows, it damages or kills these cells. This weakens the immune system and leaves the individual defenceless against various infections and illnesses. These infections and illnesses can range from pneumonia to cancer. AIDS has killed more than twenty five million people worldwide, including more than six lakh people in America. Due to this disease millions of children have become orphan.

Remember :

Ø HIV cannot be transported or infected by food or air.

Ø Cannot spread by mosquito or insects

Ø Does not spread by using utensils of the infected person

Ø The virus can only spread through foll fluids : blood, semen or breast milk

Ø Sharing needles or syringes is dangerous

Ø Today there are drugs available to treat this

Ø Also vaccines given during birth are very effective

SHORT STORY : Present and Past

Short Story: Present and Past This is the story of a girl called Chetana. She was beautiful and born in a conservative family. This was the era when girls education was not given importance. Soon, she was married. She would remember her friends at school with whom she would joke, laugh and have those little fun moments. But they also had got married and there was no communication thereafter. The little girl now had the responsibility of taking care of the household. She was never praised by anyone in her house. Though she was perfect in all the household chores and carried out all the tasks efficiently. Husband used to be away for earning. She would do her duties whole heartedly. Slowly times passed and she had a daughter. The family named her Jyoti. Chetana used to love her but would find less time in taking care of her. Slowly, Jyoti grew up and always wondered her mother was most beautiful , so intelligent as would often give her advice on little things and how she was a...

BHARATNATYAM ANNUAL DAY STAGE PERFORMANCE ; YOU WILL ENJOY IT TOO!!!

Bharatnatyam is my favourite dance. This comprises of a 7 year rigorous practice and exam to get the final course completion. This dance has taught me so much. To be disciplined, to be perfect and more importantly keeps me agile , flexible and healthy. It also teaches us the importance of Guru. We begin and end the class with a namaskaram step always. Our guru is at times very strict but we admire her dance and perfection with which she teaches us. There was a time when the world entered pandemic stage and we had to do our classes online too. It was because of her excellent teaching skills we were able to understand the difficult steps and we continue doing one class online still. We have this annual stage performance every year and we really enjoyed doing that yesterday. We had so many performances and participants from various areas of Mumbai.   The performance was at 5.30pm and we had to reach the venue for make-up and costume and hair dressing by professionals at 2.3...

#DIWALI2022 : HOW DID YOU CELEBRATE IT ?

DIWALI : THE SPARKLING FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS I know we all love Diwali so am not here to educate you on this festival. It’s just that after the pandemic this year Diwali was more special. It was more exciting to buy new clothes, trying new varieties of sweets and of course meeting and socialising with friends and relatives. Diwali is incomplete without celebrating it with your near and dear ones. I too travelled to my hometown and spent a few days with my grandparents, taking their blessings and visiting temples which were also glittering with amazing lights and beautiful rangolis. Thanks to the social media, we can see breath taking rangolis everywhere nowadays. However old I grow, I cant stop my love for the crackers. I don’t like the sound ones like bombs but love the sparklers like fuljhadi, chakri and anar. Diwali is complete with that. Also, there is a special charm in doing the Lakshmi poojan wherein we have all types of fruits specially the custard apple a...

#World Mental Health day 2022

Today is World Mental Health Day. 😍 I think keeping your mind healthy is as important as keeping your body. What happens most of the time is that we can know when the body is unwell and we need to visit a doctor for the same. Like having fever, stomach pain etc and we visit a doctor. The biggest challenge today we all face is to identify whether we are suffering from any mental health issues. Even saying that you have a mental issue is often termed as becoming mad or eccentric by the society or even your own people.  Today , we are all constantly on our mobile phones and there is continuous so much processing of so much information all the time that it is making us stressed and tired mentally and we do not even realise this. Of course, the technology is important and we have to live with it. So how do we coexist peacefully with the instantly changing world around us.  Most importantly , we should actually thank the social media for educating us that its a World Mental health ...
