Review :
This is sports drama film filled with elements of patriotism and showcasing India’s strength of unity in diversity. the film even talks about gender equality.
The movie begins with Shahrukh Khan as a muslim in the lead role who is disgraced and termed a traitor after losing a hockey match for India. Then we see the entry of nine new characters which have been portrayed beautifully and are introduced as the new Women hockey team selected by Shahrukh Khan who coaches them and prepares them for the Women world cup hockey tournament.
Despite so many new characters, the audience can remember each one of them and there are humorous moments while bringing all of them bringing together. These are wonderful scenes between the 16-odd girls who make up coach Kabir Khan’s underdog team.
Movie's best scene is where girls on arrival for the camp introduce themselves as from state A, state B, etc and the coach rejects the girls one by one till the last girl, the captain, intorduces herself as I'm xxx from india". She is immediately included in the team by the coach. This scene sets the tone for the rest of the movie.
Girls from are shown to have different peculiarities depending on the state that they come from. For example Chitrashi Rawat who plays the pint-sized Komal and Tanya Abrol who plays the Punjaban-toughie Balbir are nothing short of excellent.
No better way to depict national integration than through a story of a exciting sport like hockey where girls from different states join to achieve a common goal.
We can see these players belong to different regions, different classes and religions. They have their own differences but with great incidents and tense moments how they overcome all of these disparities and come together is portrayed in a very touching and interesting manner. There is no dull moment at all throughout the movie.
The music is not forcefully added but adds value to the movie. The film music is soothing and there is an energetic number of the title track sung by Sukhwinder Singh which fills you with the never give up attitude and gives a great motivation to the entire team.
Do they really win the world cup or just win hearts. This is something you must watch with your entire family.
I strongly recommend this to the new generation as the movie is now available online on aamazon prime video
