#DIWALI2022 : HOW DID YOU CELEBRATE IT ?

DIWALI : THE SPARKLING FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS I know we all love Diwali so am not here to educate you on this festival. It’s just that after the pandemic this year Diwali was more special. It was more exciting to buy new clothes, trying new varieties of sweets and of course meeting and socialising with friends and relatives. Diwali is incomplete without celebrating it with your near and dear ones. I too travelled to my hometown and spent a few days with my grandparents, taking their blessings and visiting temples which were also glittering with amazing lights and beautiful rangolis. Thanks to the social media, we can see breath taking rangolis everywhere nowadays. However old I grow, I cant stop my love for the crackers. I don’t like the sound ones like bombs but love the sparklers like fuljhadi, chakri and anar. Diwali is complete with that. Also, there is a special charm in doing the Lakshmi poojan wherein we have all types of fruits specially the custard apple a...

SHORT STORY : Present and Past

Short Story: Present and Past This is the story of a girl called Chetana. She was beautiful and born in a conservative family. This was the era when girls education was not given importance. Soon, she was married. She would remember her friends at school with whom she would joke, laugh and have those little fun moments. But they also had got married and there was no communication thereafter. The little girl now had the responsibility of taking care of the household. She was never praised by anyone in her house. Though she was perfect in all the household chores and carried out all the tasks efficiently. Husband used to be away for earning. She would do her duties whole heartedly. Slowly times passed and she had a daughter. The family named her Jyoti. Chetana used to love her but would find less time in taking care of her. Slowly, Jyoti grew up and always wondered her mother was most beautiful , so intelligent as would often give her advice on little things and how she was a...

BHARATNATYAM ANNUAL DAY STAGE PERFORMANCE ; YOU WILL ENJOY IT TOO!!!

Bharatnatyam is my favourite dance. This comprises of a 7 year rigorous practice and exam to get the final course completion. This dance has taught me so much. To be disciplined, to be perfect and more importantly keeps me agile , flexible and healthy. It also teaches us the importance of Guru. We begin and end the class with a namaskaram step always. Our guru is at times very strict but we admire her dance and perfection with which she teaches us. There was a time when the world entered pandemic stage and we had to do our classes online too. It was because of her excellent teaching skills we were able to understand the difficult steps and we continue doing one class online still. We have this annual stage performance every year and we really enjoyed doing that yesterday. We had so many performances and participants from various areas of Mumbai.   The performance was at 5.30pm and we had to reach the venue for make-up and costume and hair dressing by professionals at 2.3...

#World STudents Day #Dr. APJ AbdulKalam

Today is 15th October 2022. This is no ordinary day.  What is so special about this day? Yes , its Abdul Kalam's birthday. There is and will always remain One Abdul Kalam.  He was our 11th president of India. He was also awarded Bharat Ratna Popularly called as the missile man of India, he was responsible in taking India's role globally in the space and we managed to sucessfully launch missiles in the space. The most beloved President is no more with us but he remains our favourite Idol and most inspiring leader of our times. Everything about him was special. Risen from a poor background, he was so humbled and reached greater heights but remained grounded always teaching us with his amazing inspirational quotes. so why do we celebrate his birthday as World Students day ? That's because he used to love students and immediately after finishing his tenure as President of India, he got back into teaching students. Even when he breathed his last, he was actually teaching in the ...

#International Girl Child Day 2022

Tuesday ,  11 October International Day of the Girl Child 2022 It made me wonder why do we celebrate this day. And then after a thought, I realised how lucky I was to be born as a girl and respected and loved in my family. But then centuries ago, women have suffered so much that they did not have even voting rights.  Yes, we needed a day to make the world realise, the importance of girl child. The compassion, the warmth, the love and care that a girl possesses is incomparable to anyone. Woman have been seen as an object and never got the equality they deserved.  But am glad, today so much has changed. We can see girls excel in every field and there is no field left where we cant see girls competing.  I am glad girls are no more objectified in the movies and we find many woman centric movies doing well. Some of them are : Queen, Dangal, Mission mangal, Shakuntala devi, etc Yes, time has come to celebrate GIRL CHILD.  You will also notice that t...

#World Mental Health day 2022

Today is World Mental Health Day. 😍 I think keeping your mind healthy is as important as keeping your body. What happens most of the time is that we can know when the body is unwell and we need to visit a doctor for the same. Like having fever, stomach pain etc and we visit a doctor. The biggest challenge today we all face is to identify whether we are suffering from any mental health issues. Even saying that you have a mental issue is often termed as becoming mad or eccentric by the society or even your own people.  Today , we are all constantly on our mobile phones and there is continuous so much processing of so much information all the time that it is making us stressed and tired mentally and we do not even realise this. Of course, the technology is important and we have to live with it. So how do we coexist peacefully with the instantly changing world around us.  Most importantly , we should actually thank the social media for educating us that its a World Mental health ...

MOVIE : CHAK DE INDIA Its  a 2007 Indian Hindi-language sports film directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner  Yash Raj Films Streaming on : Amazon Prime Video Review : This is sports drama film filled with elements of patriotism and showcasing India’s strength of unity in diversity.  the film even talks about gender equality. The movie begins with Shahrukh Khan as a muslim in the lead role who is disgraced and termed a traitor after losing a hockey match for India. Then we see the entry of nine new characters which have been portrayed beautifully and are introduced as the new Women hockey team selected by Shahrukh Khan who coaches them    and prepares them for the Women world cup hockey tournament. Despite so many new characters, the audience can remember each one of them and there are humorous moments while bringing all of them bringing together.  These are wonderful scenes between the 16-odd girls who make up coach Kab...
